In this area, students develop knowledge and skills that enable them to design, form, transform and work with resistant materials.
The course develops student’s abilities in using their creativity, knowledge and reasoning skills to first develop a design that fits a particular purpose or brief. Students then refine their design and through following the design process produce a final protype usually in wood, metal or mixed materials.
As part of this process students will learn practical skills in cutting, shaping and joining various materials including wood and metal.
This course provides the basis to move on to studies in Level 1 engineering, building and creative technology.
A black 2 ring binder, A4 punched and lined writing paper, HB,2B and 4H pencils and a set of colouring pencils are essential staionery for this course.
