Level 1 Future Pathways
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms L. Duncan.
This course is aimed at assisting students to develop self awareness and strategies that will enhance their vocational skills both now and in the future.
Students will explore self-management strategies and interpersonal communication through co-operation, teamwork and problem-solving. Employment related topics will also be explored, including rights and responsibilities and the preparation of their Curriculum Vitae.
Students may also have the opportunity to explore topics directly related to their vocational interest, or there may be an opportunity to work towards one of the six vocational pathway sectors.
Course Overview
Term 1
Students will begin considering their interests, strengths, personal qualities and goal setting. Students will begin work on their CVS, look at internet safety, employment rights and responsibilities and employee relationships.
Term 2
Students will complete the Employment series of units by looking at employee obligations and how to complete an informal interview. There may be an opportunity at this point to complete a customer service course with an outside provider, leading on to some work experience around school.
Term 3
Students will study traffic law to assist with Learner Driver Licencing. There will be an opportunity to review interests, strengths, personal qualities and goals in order to plan for the rest of the year which will involve opportunities to study areas of interest.
Term 4
Students will study topics of personal interest. Level 2 Unit Standards may be completed in this last part of the year.
