Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs A. King

Elements of this course involve self-direction and students can choose health topics of interest to them. Students will research and analyse a New Zealand Health issue, an international health issue, and a contemporary ethical issue in relation to well-being. Students will also consider health practices in New Zealand and evaluate their effectiveness. This course is suited or students who have independent research and work skills and who have the motivation to manage their own time and projects.


Course Costs:

A course contribution cost of $30 is requested to help cover the costs associated with guest speakers.

Evaluate health practices currently used in New Zealand.

Term 3
Evaluate models for health promotion

Term 4
Analyse a contemporary ethical issue in relation to well-being

Equipment/Stationery

Devices are not essential but highly recommended - please refer to the school specification requirements for a preferred device.

Recommended Prior Learning

This course is aimed at students who have completed Level Two Health and/or Physical Education. In the absence of these subjects a discussion with Mrs King and the students Level One English results will be taken into consideration for entry into this course.
