Year 10 Drama

Course Description

This subject is open to all creative and performance-based students. The Performance Arts course is broken into two strands – Drama, and Dance.  This course will allow students to experience, learn, develop and excel, working towards Level One, in the area of Performing Arts through a theory and practical based course.  

 Students will learn elements, conventions, technologies and subject specific skills across these disciplines and styles. They will also be able to gain confidence, personal and social skills, self-expression, understanding, and develop practical knowledge and ideas through the various units and topics covered.

 

Course Overview

Term 1
Student will build on their skills from 9PAR with a focus on Drama and Dance in this course. Term One will focus on developing techniques of Drama and script work. Dance will focus the elements of dance with a focus on fitness and skills.

The four main areas of Drama and Dance will be covered through a series of units, performance and projects to develop your knowledge, skill and performance capabilities leading to level 1.

Term 2
Term 2 will have a focus on the choregraphic devices and the production of a group dance. This will also have an inquiry unit with a specific focus on an Artist Study from the field of Dance or Drama.

Term 3
Term 3 will have a production and perfromance based focus. This will allow students to develop their understanding of the various aspects of theatre work, and the elements associated with performing a script.

Term 4
Term 4 will focus on creating. This will be in the form of devising a pieces of drama to meet and intention and choregraphing sequences to show an understanding of a concept.
