Level 3 Digital Media

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr M. Moffitt.

The course builds on 12DME and is designed to provide students with a high level of fluency in designing and developing digital outcomes, with a focus on user experience. The course centres around web development, however other digital outcomes are possible. The students follow a cycle of inquiry, design and development, while exploring and encorporating user experience. This is coupled with project management skills aimed at getting the best product possible in a timely manner. For the web development project, languages studied include HTML and CSS.

Course Overview

Term 1
Conduct a critical inquiry to propose a digital technologies outcome
Learning new HTML and CSS techniques

Term 2
Apply user experience methodologies to develop a design for a digital technologies outcome
Use complex techniques to develop a digital media outcome

Term 3
Use complex techniques to develop a digital media outcome

Term 4
External CAT
Present a reflective analysis of developing a digital outcome

Recommended Prior Learning

Strong understanding of HTML, CSS are required.

It is advantageous to have access to a computer to complete work at home.

Pathway

Many students taking this course will go to to study Information Technology, Information Science, Graphic Design at tertiary level. Students also have strong skills in Web Development and Database Design to get internship work in local businesses.
