Course Description

11MTI prepares students for Statistics and is for students who already know that they will not need a large amount of algebra in their future. There is an increased focus on the Statistical Enquiry Cycle and Statistical Literacy whilst not excluding Mathematical Concepts. Note that this course does not prepare students for studying Calculus at Level 2.

Term 1
AS 91945 (1.2) Use mathematical methods to explore problems that relate to life in Aotearoa New Zealand or the Pacific (Internal – 5 credits)
Term 2
AS 91944 (1.1) Explore data using a statistical enquiry process (Internal – 5 credits)
Term 3
AS 91946 (1.3) Interpret and apply mathematical and statistical information in context (External – 5 credits)
Term 4
Preparation for 12MAS/MAL 2025
This time can also be an opportunity to do re-assessments for 1.1 Stats Exploration and 1.2 Mathematical methods if required.
Recommended Prior Learning
Completion of Year 10 Mathematics and the Level 1 Numeracy Co-requisite Examination.
Equipment/Stationery
3 x IE5 or IE8 workbooks, clear plastic ruler 300mm, pencil, eraser, ball-point pens - red, blue and black. Casio FX-9750GII Graphics calculator.
Optional Workbooks - Walker Mathematics 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3. These are highly recommended as they are a valuable resource to supplement classwork.

Two internally assessed achievement standards at Level 6 of the Aotearoa/ New Zealand curriculum with the addition of one externally assessed achievement standard.Credit Information
You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
Total Credits Available: 15 credits.

Internally Assessed Credits: 10 credits.
