Level 3 Business Studies
Course Description
This course is open to Year 13 students with a passion for business and enterprise. It is based around The Young Enterprise scheme (YES). YES is an experiential programme where students set up and run their own real business. This course will offer a mixture of assessment opportunities, negotiated with the group, depending on needs and interests. Students will work with others to form a company, create real products or services, develop real budgets, implement real marketing plans, and possibly earn real money. The success of their company will rest on their business skills, which will develop throughout the year.
Course Overview
Term 1
Introduction to business planning and marketing. Students will create a marketing plan for their business concept.
Term 2
Students will create a business plan and begin developing/running their business.
Term 3
Running of business continued and refined.
Term 4
Wrap up business and external examination preparation.
Recommended Prior Learning
Students who take this cause will need to have initiative and be able to work in an independent and self-motivated manner. Prior learning in the commerce area would be an advantage but not required.
