Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr J. King

This course is a mixture of theory and practical learning and is aimed at students with an interest in sport and physical activity.  Students will develop their application of participation, interpersonal skills and leadership through a range of physical activities, including Bowls, Curling, Volleyball and Tchoukball.  Anatomy, Biomechanics and Exercise Physiology will also be applied to Badminton.

Sport for Life

Develop an understanding of the factors that influence participation in sport and physical activity.
Mostly practical based.

Term 2
Badminton Examined - Anatomy and Biomechanics
Achievement Std 1.2
(5 Credits)
Develop a basic understanding of functional anatomy, biomechanics and exercise phyisology.
Mostly theory based with practical lessons based around badminton.

or students can chose to opt into another achievement standard of independent learning:
Self-Management in Physical Education
Achievement Std 1.9 (3 Credits)

Term 3
Sports Performance
Volleyball
Achievement Std 1.3
(3 Credits)

This is the only unit of the year that is fully practical with no written component.

Sports Education

(4 Credits)
Develop an understanding of interpersonal skills and how to apply them in a tchoukball context.
