Course Description

  • Students now require learning to be dynamic and responsive.
  • As teachers we need to encourage the understanding of how to create and use knowledge as much as to know knowledge.
  • Knowledge is no longer the currency that it once was.
  • Learning needs to be collaborative and creative where learners become producers or publishes of knowledge more so than just consumers.



  • Alternative to traditional learning is for an intensive personal project to be the driver behind the individuals learning programme.
  • While undertaking personal projects, students will be expected to directly engage with experts in the local community.
  • Students will need to develop their active research skills in order to find and gather contextually relevant published material.
  • Students will be deliberately taught and provided with the contexts to practice a wide range of skills and competencies which have less of a focus in traditional learning structures.
    1. Students will learn how to communicate and negotiate effectively, resolve conflict, problem identify, and problem solve, facilitate and utilise leadership skills.
  • The goal is to develop an effective curriculum to accommodate all learners, grounded in the principals of design thinking and the 7 principles of learning.

  • Read widely in the fields of creativity, innovation, education future thinking
  • Learn how to conceptualise, plan and execute a project
  • Undergo real-world problem solving
  • Utilise design thinking processes
  • Learn and apply ideation strategies to come up with solutions
  • Discover, build and enhance 21st Century capabilities
  • Collaborate, communicate, think critically

Due to the nature of this course access to a Laptop, although not essential, is preferable.
