Mathematics is compulsory for all students in Year 11. Students will be placed in their most suitable course of study by the Head of Department, dependent upon their level of achievement during Year 10.
To achieve a level 1 Qualification students need to obtain 10 Numeracy credits from Achievement Standards or the Numeracy Unit Standards. A list of all Level 1 standards that the department covers is given near the bottom of the page. Depending on their level of achievement students will study a small selection of these standards.
It is expected that students will have their own pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, two 1E5 or 1E8, and a scientific or graphics calculator depending on their course of study. It is strongly recommended that they purchase the Walker Maths workbook for all topics that are studied in class. It is also strongly recommended that students purchase the D and D booklets for revision in term 4 in preparation for sitting the final NCEA External examination in November.
